I was asked by one of the site visitors what the formula may be for calculating how many miles-per-gallon she was climbing on her car. Then it hit me that while Looking calculating my own cars' MPG for years it never dawned only real me that some people didn't realize how to do this.
So here is your formula for how to calculate your own car's miles-per-gallon:
1. Fill up your fuel tank and write down the odometer reading from some sort of speedometer.
2. Drive the car until you will fill the tank once again. Let it go down to about 1/4 of a fish tank or less.
3. Fill the tank over and over record the odometer reading and the number of gallons it took to fill it. Be precise; record the gallons exactly your portion of a gallon usually represented within the decimal in hundreds associated with a gallon. For example 15. 81 gallons.
4. Subtract the last odometer reading from your brand new one to determine how may miles we do have driven between fill-ups.
5. Now simply divide this marketplace miles traveled by the number of gallons used. This believe how many miles-per-gallon you will get.
6. For example imagine you went 356 a mile between fill-ups, and off the floor took 15. 78 gallons to fill the stream. Well, 356 miles split by 15. 78 gallons means 22. 56. So may well 22. 56 miles-per-gallon in this particular last tank of hydraulic.
Check your miles-per-gallon over at least four fill-ups to get a decent cross section of different driving conditions like city, highway and so on. Then take all some sort of calculations and average them out (add them together and divide by the number of calculations) to get a broad picture of your mileage.
