Reader Question

I have a question to ask you about my 1994 Mazda B-3000. The engine intermittenly does not start. When you turn the key just isn't expected what you'll get. The starter turns but tend to the engine does scarcely start. If I'm lucky enough to be parked on the entire hill (it's a standard) in first gear or amend, once you get doesn't necessarily rolling and pop the clutch it starts without much trouble. Generally seems to have plenty of power the battery, (lights, etc. all are work). Someone told me this can be a flywheel problem but come together mechanic said he discounts think so, and is not able to diagnose the problem. He said he took the starter just checked it and found nothing wrong. What do you do you think? Any ideas would get ranked greatly appreciated. Very Frusterated, Later on D.

Good question The cart,

If you can and the engine via click starting.... it has as being a problem with one or is really a great following:

1. Battery won't have enough juice to realistically engage and spin beginner motor fast enough

2. Beginner motor is weak, and does not engage and turn engine

3. Flywheel features a bad spot on it just, when you turn the main factor, you hear the newbie motor turning... and usually hear on the grinding noise because the starter is attempting to grab a piece within a flywheel that is missing

4. A few starter relay that is bad or some other electrical problem which is not allowing electricity from it to flow to the higher starter

5. Bad connection at the same battery and battery cables. You can check concerning yourself... make sure the cables are neat and tight! You should not be able to move or wiggle battery cables on the battery together with hands. Make sure there is no need a ring on your finger or possibly a watch on your wrist when working inside battery... I have fifteen to twenty scars on my fingers to produce that batteries can OBLITERATE!

I would have battery "LOAD" tested, and a starter "DRAW" test completed by your mechanic with the items on the vehicle.... don't take them off the vehicle to test them.

A quick "Shade Tree Mechanic" test to diagnose a bad starter: following on from the engine is in "no start" option. Turn on the headlights (make sure might good and bright... or there is a bad battery), then turn the ignition key and then start the engine. However , if the headlights DIM, but hold on lit, then you you will get a bad starter power, if you turn the ignition key and then the headlights go OUT, for people with a bad battery often referred to as loose or dirty battery cables.

ALWAYS check it cables first, 9 out of 10 times this is a loose or dirty barrage cable... that has really been over looked, that results in a no start or intermittent starting problem identical to the one you are having got.
